Simon Boccanegra: Short Synopsis

Simon and Fiesco’s daughter, Maria, had already gained a daughter, although her father, Fiesco, opposed the marriage. The daughter they had hidden and raised disappeared. Maria died under house arrest by her father. In his grief, Simon was elected, in an election, Governor of Genoa.

Twenty-five years later, Fiesco (Andrea) is fostering Amelia (Simon’s missing daughter) as his adopted daughter, unaware she is his grandchild. Simon and Amelia are reunited and find out they are father and daughter. Genoa is experiencing a conflict between commoners and nobles. Simon dies after being poisoned by Paolo.
